God could have come to us any way He wanted. He could have come to us with fire shooting from his mouth, telling us who He was and demanding we believe . He could have thrown down His mighty throne, larger than any skyscraper we’ve ever seen and plopped himself down to rule over us with a heavy and mighty fist. But He didn’t. He came to us as an innocent, naked, newborn baby boy. He came to us poor and shivering. He came as one of us. The thought of Jesus needing to be cared for by Mary makes me thankful, thankful that He loved us so much He wanted to be here with us, as us. We have a Savior because of Mary’s faith. We have forgiveness because of God’s sacrifice. We have life because Jesus, the shivering newborn baby boy, was born in a manger to save the world.
