When our sonogram showed that we would be welcoming a baby boy to our family we literally jumped for joy. To say that my husband was excited would be a gross understatement.
Until that moment we were parents to five beautiful daughters and while my husband loves each one of them more than I could put into words, he really (really, really, really) wanted a son.
He was so excited that I actually got him to go to Hobby Lobby with me!
That’s when it all got out of control.
I gave him free rein in the nursery. It was all him, whatever he wanted to do. He picked a service station/garage theme. He made everything in the room himself out of random garage stuff. We have an actual garage door hanging on the wall!
Let me just say that he spent countless hours preparing for his little boy to come home. He wanted the room to be perfect and in our eyes it is. Every detail was thought out with great care by my husband. He obsessed over the room and it made my heart smile.
Our son is only three months old so he is still clueless to how awesome his room is and how much time his daddy put into it. I can’t wait until he understands how excited his daddy was for his arrival and how much thought and care he took when preparing his room.
I love the thought of Jesus preparing my room in heaven, waiting on my arrival with that much excitement. He just can’t wait for me to see how perfect it all is.
I’m pretty sure that if heaven is anything like I think it is, there’s a Hobby Lobby and it’s open 24/7 so Jesus is taking advantage of the weekly 50% sales.
The way that we love our children and want to proved for them doesn’t even come close to the way Jesus loves and cares for us.
How wonderful it must be.
My room has sunlight cracking down from the sky light.
My room has the perfect breeze whispering from window to window.
My room has carpet that your feet sink into.
My room has a bed made purely from the clouds.
My room has no mirrors.
Right now, this very moment, Jesus is preparing your room. He wants every detail so perfectly designed for you that your eyes light up when you arrive. He wants it to be a place for you to rest, worship, sing and dance.
How could we ever be stressed by this world knowing that our Savior has the most amazing place awaiting us.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14:1-4
Every little boy needs a diamond plated toy box
Yes, that’s a table made from a tire and tire jack
My awesome husband actually hit up a garage sale and transformed an old dresser into this. Those are trailer hitches as the knobs.
Good thing we had an extra garage door
I never thought that I would be changing my baby on a tool cart.
